Job Summary
The Subcontractor Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating external subcontractors to ensure manufacturing activities are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and contractual requirements. This role acts as the primary liaison between the company and its subcontract manufacturing partners, ensuring alignment with production schedules, technical specifications, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Subcontractor Management
- Identify, evaluate, select, and onboard subcontractors based on capability, cost, quality, and capacity.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with subcontractors, serving as the main point of contact.
- Negotiate subcontract terms, pricing, lead times, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor subcontractor performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Production & Scheduling
- Coordinate subcontracted production activities to meet manufacturing schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Align subcontractor capacity with internal production planning and demand forecasts.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP), delivery timelines, and completion status of subcontracted work.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure subcontractors comply with company quality standards, technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, audits, and quality reviews at subcontractor facilities.
- Address non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Cost & Commercial Control
- Control subcontracting costs and support cost-reduction initiatives.
- Review invoices and ensure accurate billing against agreed contracts and deliverables.
- Support make-versus-buy analysis and subcontracting strategy decisions.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure subcontractors comply with health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, contracts, and certifications for subcontractors.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Finance teams.
- Communicate production updates, risks, and performance metrics to management.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) involving subcontracted processes.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be a PERMANENT RESIDENT in the Philippines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
- [3–7] years of experience in manufacturing, subcontractor management, supplier management, or production planning.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or outsourced production preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills - Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
- Contract negotiation and supplier performance management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF, AS9100, etc. – as applicable).
