28 Aug: DOLE Initiates Campaign Against Child Labor Among Mangyan Communities in Mindoro

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launched a campaign to combat child labor among the Mangyan, an indigenous group situated within the island of Mindoro last August 16, 2019. Through an information campaign, the labor agency will orient the Mangyan about anti-child labor laws and policies, livelihood support, and children’s rights.

26 Jul: DOLE Requests Brief Exemption of SSS Payment for First-Time OFWs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is proposing a temporary exemption of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) to immediately pay for their social security premiums before they can secure an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). Instead, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III suggests that SSS must collect the overseas worker’s premiums three months after their deployment.

1-PACMAN Party-list Representative Michael Romero, the stepson of the late Eddie Garcia, filed House Bill (HB) No. 181, or the Actors Occupational Safety and Health Standard Bill to prevent work-related fatalities in the entertainment industry. Under HB 181, the entertainment industry must provide a safe workplace for all workers and employees.
